I received my Master’s Degree in Social work and Women’s Studies from Syracuse University in 1998. I spent the next four years as a social worker for JCCA in New York City, working with children and teens in foster care and group homes. I worked for AMAC school in New York as the school social worker. My work experience includes being an intake therapist & in private practice on the upper east side and doing early intervention work and running social skills groups. I worked for the Red Cross after 9/11 as a crisis worker.
While relocating for a few years to Atlanta, I worked in hospice and for Kaiser permanente in Atlanta. All these positions came with leadership and case management responsibilities that were invaluable as I honed my skills before returning to the northeast and working as a social worker with women with postpartum depression and anxiety.
During my career, I became a mom of a child with special needs. I’ve always been involved with my son's education and worked with my town parent group as a chairperson for Two River Parents of Special Needs Children.
I often share my referrals and experiences and draw upon my own highs and lows in the IEP process.
When I am not working, I’m home or on the beach with my husband and 3 kids and our labradoodle.
